FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

If I need to withdraw my child from his/her dance class would this be possible?

Absolutely! Though we hate to see anyone leave, as long as we receive one month's written notice we will return any postdated cheques to you. We cannot accept withdrawals over the phone. No withdrawals will be accepted after May 1st.
This policy will be strictly adhered to and we thank you in advanced for your cooperation and understanding.

Am I allowed to watch my dancer`s class(es)?

We ask that parents do not watch their dancer`s class as they can become easily distracted by you (especially our younger ones) and we want them to concentrate on their teacher and what she is trying to teach them.  We do however have two watching weeks a year where you and anyone else that would like to come to watch the class may come in (this includes Grammas, Grampas, etc.).
The dancers can then show you what they are learning. Also we do have viewing windows for each of our studios.

Do you offer competitions and festivals and do you do audition for these?

We absolutely do participate in festivals and competitions! We feel these are a wonderful asset to any dancer's training.
Not only does it give them the opportunity to perform on stage, but they can learn so much from an adjudicator at these festivals that they can use to improve their dancing. We find that children that participate in festivals learn so much, have so much fun, meet new friends and become much more confident children. We are especially careful as to which festivals and competitions we attend.
We chose competitions and festivals that their main focus is on the dancer and their needs, not the political aspect of competition.
We DO NOT audition for groups. If a dancer is willing to attend all his/her classes, practice and attend the competitions then we are
willing to make sure that the dancer is fully prepared to attend the festival.  We feel that every dancer deserves the chance to perform
as long as they are willing to work for it! We do ask that the dancers be at least 6 years of age. We do audition for solos and duets,
but this is so the dancer understands what a big commitment they are not only the dancer's part, but also the teacher and the parents.

Do you have a year end show and what would the costs be?

Yes, we actually do two shows a year for all our dancers young and old, recreational and competitive.
One at Christmas time (December) and one at the end of the year (June). These are a great experience for everyone involved.
We try and keep the costs for these as low as possible.  The Christmas show costumes usually range around $15.00 - $25.00
and the costumes for the year end show usually range from $35.00  - $50.00. We really try very hard to keep the costs for these as low
as we can. It is NOT mandatory that the dancer participates in these shows but we STRONGLY SUGGEST they do as they are such
as a wonderful positive experience for everyone! We do send home a permission slip prior to each show so that we know who is
participating! The Christmas performance is usually a 2 hour show and the year end performance is between 3 - 3 1/2 hours in length
(our preschoolers are in the first half so that they can either watch the second half with their families or go home.)

We do sell tickets for our shows, but this is to cover the costs of these shows. Theatres in Calgary are very expensive and
we try and keep the ticket prices as low as we can. The Christmas concert tickets are $10.00 each and the year end show tickets are $15.00.
The location of the shows is determined by what is available as theatre space in Calgary is very hard to find!

How do I pay for my child's classes?

We ask for postdated cheques from September thru to June. Dated for the 1st of very month.
This year we are also offering monthly fees being paid by Visa or Mastercard. Fill in the form at beginning of the season and your fees
will be automatically be paid by your credit card each month (no worrying about cheques!)

Why do I have to pay for a full month in December if my child only receives two classes?

If monthly payments for dance were based on a certain number of classes in a month, it wouldn’t be fair! But you have to remember
that the monthly payment is not related to the number of classes in the month. When you enroll a child with us, you are enrolling
him/her for an entire season of classes - i.e., September through June. We guarantee that your dancer will receive 32 classes during the
school year. The number of classes that occur in an given month depends on the calendar and any holidays that may take place during
that month. Each month is different, depending on the day of the week that your child dances. Some months will have 3 classes and
some will have 4 or even 5. But no matter what day your child comes, by the end of the year, he/she will receive at least 32 classes,
so as you can see everything balances out over the year.

What is my child require to wear to class?

Each discipline is different but he/she will be required to wear proper dance wear to class each week. What they wear will depend
what type of dance they are taking. We will let you know what they need at the time of registration. And also where you can get this.
If you are wondering why we do this, it is not only that it is part of a dancer's training to learn how to dress properly for dance but
also it is so that the teacher can see your child's posture etc. and make the necessary adjustments so that your child does not get injured.

Do you have any discounts?

Yes, we do if you are registered in two or more classes or have 2 or more children registered with us you will receive a 10% discount.

How many children are in a class?

The sizes of our classes vary, but generally we try and keep our class sizes to a maximum of 12 children per class.

What if I miss a class, do I get a credit for the missed class?

If your child misses because you are away or because they are sick there is NO credit or reimbursement. If we have another class
that your child can attend to make up this class we will definitely do this, but we cannot give you a credit for the missed class.
However, if we have to cancel a class due to a teacher being absent or the studio being closed due to competitions or an emergency
(not holidays as they are factored into the 32 week yearly total) then we WILL have a make up class to make up for the missed class or classes.

If we have not answered all your questions please feel free to call us at the studio during office hours and we will gladly answer any questions you may have.
